Spiritual Fast

So, I was thinking...

It has been a while since I have posted on my blog anything of real significance except for the Modern Family clip which, by the way, is now one of my favorite shows.

Well anyway, I decided this last week that in preparation for Christmas I would enter into a Spiritual Fast. Basically, what this means is I am trying to have a deeper, more spiritual Christmas and to do this I want to only surround myself with things that remind me of the real meaning of Christmas and help me to become a more spiritual person in the future. So from Saturday December 19th until December 25th I am only going to be reading things with spiritual background, watching movies about Christ, listening to Christmas and church music and watching more closely the things I say, think and do. I will be online to post my progress as I think that can count as Spiritual Reflection.

Anyone who wants to join me is more than welcome and can post comments on their progress.

For now though I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Fantastic New Year.

As a student it is only a matter of time before I start ranting about how life sucks because I am so far behind on everything due by the end of the semester.

Well sorry to disappoint but today is not that day... kind of.

I was thinking about how the semester has gone for me as far as home work goes and well it hasn't been that bad. I've not had a 20page paper to right, in fact the longest paper I have to write is only 6 pages and even that is with double spacing. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it has all been roses and butterflies for me because I have had my fair share of stress to get everything done but who doesn't? I've actually been pretty lucky. I am able to do the majority of my work in the mornings before my 11o'clock class and any other homework usually takes only a little while and can be done with a friend. I think I have handled my first semester back in school after 4 or 5 years pretty well.

Speaking of which, I had better go and get some of that work done before I do fall behind and have something to moan about.

Many people I meet ask me why I came to America, so I tell them "Oh, my wife is American". The next obvious question is "well how did you meet her?" and this is how the story goes...

Jennell was on a study abroad in Wales with BYU (Brigham Young University in Utah). We met after my friend (Sam Gould), who was the Young Single Adult Coordinator for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the time, heard about a group of girls over for the summer from Utah. He invited me and a friend (Mark) to go with him to hangout with them and get to know them.

Jennell and I had an awkward start. We met once at a dance where I completely ignored her when she came over to talk to me and then again when we met at the beach. That time I was too interested in getting to know one of the other girls on the trip. The third time we met was a lot better. It was at a pool party that Sam had thrown in honor of the girls.

Jennell and I spent the whole time with each other, playing in the pool, hanging out in the hot tub and jumping on the trampoline. It was a blast. After the party we hardly left each others side.

Once the study abroad program ended Jennell chose to stay in Wales for a few more days and she was free to date, which we did a lot of over those few days.

When she finally flew back to Utah I decided I was going to travel and found an agency that would allow me to work in the U.S. for a year. I joined and soon after flew out to Utah to visit Jennell. While I was on my trip I was offered a job in New York, which I took and 3weeks later I was back on a plane to start work.

While I was in New York Jennell and I decided to keep our relationship going over long distance. I would save my money and fly out to see her every 5 or 6 weeks to spend the weekend with her. That Christmas I was able to spend with Jennell and her family and that is when I decided to propose. She eventually said YES after leaving me down on one knee for a very long time and we were married in the following July, exactly 1 year after we first met and have now been married for almost 2 and a half years.

The next question I get a lot is "So you didn't meet on the internet then?"

No..No we did not!!

It's kind of funny how my mind processes things. You can ask me a question that I will start to answer which then moves into a conversation without ever actually answering the original question and things will move on and then about 5minutes later my mind jumps back to the question and I will answer it leaving everyone involved confused. I don't really know why I do it. I just do, even when the question is irrelevant to the direction that conversation is flowing.

Why am I writing this down on my blog? I have no idea really. I am just sat here thinking about things that have happened this weekend and for some reason the thought came to me.

Anyways, that's all I got right now, I have a story to tell but need to have lunch first.

I figured Easily Distracted was probably the best way to describe myself. I am ADHD Inattentive and find it very hard to focus on anything for long periods of time. The only reason I am able to do this is because I am so excited about it.

Anyway. My name is Andrew. I was born in Wales (the country) and lived there for the first 21 years of my life. I now live in Utah with my wife and we are expecting our first baby in July.

I have the greatest job in the world. I work at a daycare center where I run the after school and summer program. I am also going to school for my associates degree in early childhood education.

Anyway, I hope to keep this blog updated on a regular basis with stories of my life and things that are going on that I feel are important to share. Also working with kids makes for some pretty funny stories and quotes.

I hope you enjoy reading and keeping up with me and my life as much as I will enjoy writing about it.
